1K Fan Dream Team Giveaway! | San Francisco Newborn Photography

Monday, January 30th, 2012

WOOT! I’ve reached my first big Facebook milestone – 1,000 ‘likes’!  This deserves a celebration, I say, and what better way to celebrate than to give something back to one of you!?!  Yep, that’s right, starting now you’ll have the opportunity to enter to take home 24 fabulous prizes from some of the best photography vendors on the ‘net.  That’s right, my Dream Team of vendors!  Buckle up kiddos – this is going to be fun!

The deets:

* The giveaway is open to comments from Jan 30th, 2012 at 6am EST until Feb 6th, 2012 at 9pm EST and is in no way affiliated with Facebook.

* To enter, go to each vendor’s Facebook page (including mine) and ‘like’ them.  Make sure you do this from your personal Facebook account and not your business account (though of course you may do both!).  This step is REQUIRED (yes, I will be checking!).  Please take a minute to look around at their products and feel free to leave them some love on their page – let them know I sent you!  Not required, but everyone loves getting some nice feedback! Plus it’s just good karma.  :)   Leave ONE comment in the comment section that you fulfilled this step in order to enter the contest.  Don’t forget to ‘like’ my page too (it’s right here)!

Bonus Entries:

Twins! | San Francisco Newborn Photography

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

Being a newborn photographer is fun! I have a good friend who’s an up and coming photographer (I’ll plug her once she gets that website up and running!) that I’ve been mentoring casually for awhile now.  This was our first real one-on-one mentoring session with an actual newborn and as luck would have it we got to work with not one newborn baby, but eleven day old twin newborn babies!  Fun stuff!  Here are a few of my images from the session.

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Is it Monday already?!?!  So one of the things my kids just love doing is dancing like crazy people in the living room listening to a mix of songs on my iPhone.  The classic 90′s hit, Ice Ice Baby was on and they were doing their thing.  Next thing I know, my little Roan (5 years old) shows up in my room all decked out in his “hip hop” attire and strikes a pose.  I laughed so hard! If you had any idea how unexpected something like this was from one of my (extremely media sheltered, Waldorf schooled) kids, you’d get why I thought it was so funny.  I have no idea where he got this but he nailed the look!

Ginny: 12 Days Old | Novato Newborn Photographer

Sunday, January 22nd, 2012

Baby Ginny couldn’t have been more sweet! I traveled out to Marin County to photograph this little one in her home.  She has the most sweet, feminine and delicate features so I went with that in my set and prop choices for her.  Have you ever seen a more beautiful baby?!?! Thank you, M Family, for allowing me into your home during this most precious time! I am honored!

This week on Mine on Monday, I took some time to photographer the kids just being kids! Here they are up at Big Dog Rescue in Penngrove, where I volunteer my photography services, swinging on the rope swing.  I don’t know that there’s anything they love doing more, to be honest!

Welcome back, folks, to the next edition of Mine on Monday.  This week is something a little different.  I’m not sharing a portrait of any of my children this time, however, this is still about one of them.  My eldest, Caitlin, recently participated in a Lighting Ceremony with the rest of her 5th grade class.  It was a beautiful, reverent event where we all made our intentions for the year in the night as we each lit a candle, set it in one of four wax bowls, then hiked to the pond and set them free on the water.  It was truly the most beautiful thing.  Despite the only light coming from the candles themselves and the moon and stars above, I managed to get what I think is a beautiful image of our intentions set upon the water.  See for yourself…

Until next time – have a happy week!

Copperfield’s Display | Sonoma County Newborn Photographer

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

I’m excited to share with you all that I have my first ever display of work up in a public place!  This month only, if you stop by Copperfield’s bookstore in downtown Petaluma (which incidentally is the coolest bookstore around), you’ll see that I’ve got my own little window there!  I’m including a photo to show you but this does not do it justice at all – there was so much glare coming from the window!  If you’re in the area, please stop by and take a look.  Your baby just might be on display there!

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

Happy New Year, Everyone!  I’ve decided to kick off 2012 by starting out a new edition to my blog: Mine on Monday!  Each Monday I will feature a photo of one or more of my very own kids.  I have to admit, since going into business these children aren’t getting nearly their share of camera time anymore!  I’m starting things off with my favorite model, Ali.  At just barely 8 years old, this little one knows her way in front of the lens.  She’s been my most willing practice model throughout the years.  Here she is with some dramatic studio lighting – first naturally beautiful, as I see her every day, and second something very different and quite edgy – all her idea, I swear!

A beautiful black and white:

And my little rock star!

Be sure to check back next week for another edition of Mine on Monday!
